Build multi-user, real-time web applications.
Hemlock is an open-source framework that combines the power of JavaScript with the scalability of XMPP, facilitating a new class of web applications where multiple users can interact in real time. Games, workspace collaboration, educational tools… The only limit is your imagination.
New! Hemlock no longer requires Flash: you can build your apps with pure HTML, CSS, and JS. If Flash is available in your browser, Hemlock uses an ActionScript socket to push and receive data in real time. Otherwise, Hemlock seamlessly falls back to a pure JS connection. Your app can work on the desktop or on your iPhone—no code changes necessary.
You can browse or download Hemlock on GitHub.
Yes, that includes the iPhone and iPad.
When building the original Hemlock framework, we chose ActionScript because it has widespread browser support, and lets us open a real socket connection. However, one of the biggest complaints we received was, of course, that we used ActionScript.
